1 Corinthians15:10

But by the grace of God, (who Is) I AM what I AM...

Or is it really that By the Grace of God I am what I am...

Or is both ways of looking at it correct?

Why?

  1. Well, Paul use to be Saul. He was the one that stood and watched as people stoned Steven. And he did not feel like he was worthy for all the wrong he had done in his life. Jehovah God showed him mercy and forgave him.

  2. He wanted to tell all people that the great I AM is Jesus

  3. He was giving God the credit for saving him from his sins and enabling him to preach the gospel.  In the verse before it  he was saying that he wasn't worthy to be an apostle.

  4. God accepts me as I am and with His grace I have professed His greatness.

  5. By the grace of God I am what I am is the only legitamate interpretation of this verse.

  6. The I AM of YHWH is "ego eimi" meaning that it is eternally in the state of being.

The greek for this verse is eimi but not ego eimi... so I would say that this is referring to Paul, not God.

    But I'm no greek scholar.

    Here's someone who is:

    Email him ;)

  7. Paul is talking about himself here referring to the fact that he had once hunted down people like himself and killed them, but now by the Grace of God he is proclaiming God.

  8. he is not referring to God there. he's speaking of himself ahe how God has made him what he is

  9. I think it's both, not interpreted differently, but like both combined.  We cannot be who we are without God, the Great I Am.  I Am a Christian because of I AM, God's Grace, God in us through the Holy Spirit.  God changes us.

  10. It is what it says, "But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace to me was not without effect."

Either way its saying the same thing, you're just looking at it different.
