  1. no, he was a polytheist who took great joy in the festivals of eros.

read plato's symposium, its not that long of a read.

  2. According to Robin Lane Fox in "Pagans and Christianity" atheism was not an option in Plato's time. The pagan cults and their numerous gods formed the societal structure of this time, and the existence of their deities was rarely challenged. Socrates was sentenced to death for raising doubts in these matters.

  3. yes

  4. that is a great question. while one of his original and most well known dialogs Euthyphro portayed Socrates questioning a well educated priest about the gods and roll of morality (suggesting that they should not be regarded as highly as they were), and Socrates was later persecuted for not paying homage to the gods of the city....

Plato's most developed and well known theory is based entirely around the concept of an "invisible world" which he refers to as "heaven" which is the abode of the Forms which are eternal, and created everything in the "visible world" or the physical world. each of the individual Forms themselves (for instance, the Form of red, the Form of a circle, the Form of man, the Form of justice) though eternal, were created by The Form of the Good. The FOG is characterized as creating everything that is, itself neither existing nor not-existing, beyond eternal, and something which is akin to being "the alpha and omega". Often thought of as the Platonic god, it has many similarties with the judeo-christian conception, in fact many people believe that notion of God was inspired by Plato. the only truly significant difference is that Plato did not worship the FOG, though he defined the entire purpose and goal of being a philosopher to come to know, understand, and become one with the FOG.

so no pagan gods (though he refered to them, and did so passionately throughout his dialogs) and no other form of worship. i suppose techically he might be an atheist, a very very devout atheist.

  5. As I understand Plato, he didn't believe in any gods, but he did believe that religious belief was necessary in a culture to keep society stable. This is known as the "noble lie."

  6. Its  a    DISH!!..   in  spanish...

  7. i doubt plato would have not wanted a god so i assume he did believe in a god,., imean you write poems i am sure and you just assume people know they are not as good as plato's well i am like plato now and i have to see posers all day and they think their is no heaven so they cannot ruin every thin like their disease do and they right fully do!
