Westheimer herself is no stranger to combat. As a teenager in Palestine, she trained as a sniper with the Jewish underground group Haganah and was wounded during the 1948 Arab-Israeli War.

There is no independent confirmation of her bragging.

She  wrote: "When I was in my routine training for the Israeli army as a teenager, they discovered completely by chance that I was a lethal sniper. I could hit the target smack in the center further away than anyone could believe. Not just that, even though I was tiny and not even much of an athlete, I was incredibly accurate throwing hand grenades too. Even today I can load a Sten automatic rifle in a single minute."

It may be true, but you'd have to find someone else who can confirm this.

She was a member of Haganah - the organisation that became the IDF after the Establishment of the State of Israel. She was a sniper and sharpshooter. She fully admits she never shot anybody but she was injured in the Israeli War of independence in both legs and moved to France in 1950, moving to the USA in 1956.
