Question:

Was Sir William Mitchell Randall converted to Christianity by archaeology?

I heard that Sir William Mitchell Randall was the founder of archaeology studies in Europe, and had established archeology to disprove Christianity - in the process, converting to Christianity on the basis of archaeological evidence. Of the research I've done online, I've found nothing that suggests the above - he was an archaeologist, and he did deal with Christian archaeology, but I haven't found anything that says he was a pioneer of European-headed archaeology, and nothing that says he had an anti-Christian agenda that was reversed. Could anyone shed light on this?

  1. Maybe in order to understand mankind, we have to look at the word itself: "Mankind".

Basically, it's made up of two separate words - "mank" and "ind".

What do these words mean ?

It's a mystery, and that's why so is mankind.

  2. Could it be William Mitchell Ramsay?

A search found that he was an acknowledged expert of Paul's journeys and is listed as a Christian apologetic, one that aims to present a rational basis for the Christian faith.

As for his conversion I found only one source that made the claim: "conservapedia" I find this source very suspect as it's "about" section states:

"We do not allow liberal bias to deceive and distort here...starting point ...your knowledge, your faith ... and to impart what you have learned to others by editing here. The truth shall set you free. "

    http://www.conservapedia.com/Conservaped...

    Wikipedia reports conservapedia as

"web encyclopedia project written from an Americentric, socially conservative, and Conservative Christian point of view."

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conservaped...

Other sites are even more negative and harsh.

Frankly, considering the validity of the one source. The supposed story has no supporting evidence. A primary source, such as a letter or passage from one of Ramsey's books would be much more creditable. Consider much like the email where Bill Gates will track it and pay you millions to send it on.
