  1. Elizabeth Ann Bayley Seton (August 28 1774 – January 4 1821) was the first native-born United States citizen to be canonized.

St. Elizabeth Ann Seton is the patron saint of widows, children near death, and teachers

  2. I assume you're referring to Mary's sister Elizabeth, mother of John the Baptist (though there are a few St. Elizabeths).  She isn't generally considered an official patron saint of anything, though she gets credit for motherhood.

  3. There are actually 8 Saint Elizabeths. The first and simply titled is Saint Elizabeth who was the mother of St. John the Baptist. Her saint say is 5th November but I can't see that she's a patron saint of anything. The best one is Saint Elisabeth of Hungary whose day is the 17th November and she is the patron saint of: hospitals, nurses, bakers, brides, countesses, dying children, exiles, homeless people, lacemakers, tertiaries and widows - quite a lot for one lady! Hope that helps! See here for more info: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elisabeth_o...

  4. The name Elizabeth comes from the Hebrew Elisheva, which means "God is my oath" or "God's oath." There were several saints with that name. Two of the best known are Elizabeth, kinswoman of Mary and mother of John the Baptist, and Saint Elizabeth of Hungary.

Most saints are patrons of more than one thing. See the links below for details.
