Was T.V. there in india in the late 70s... n specially places like punjab, ludhiyana etc....?

  2. Doordarshan had a modest beginning with the experimental telecast starting in Delhi in September 1959 with a small transmitter and a makeshift studio.

  3. TV Services were introduced to cover major cities in India during 1979-1980 - to coincide with the Asian Games.

    Earlier to this only Delhi and couple of other cities had TV services with very limited hours of broadcast (around 3 hours per day).

    UGC - educational programs were very popular during that time.

    During those days, Mono TV were more popular.

    Colour TV came in India in 1978 in few house, and from 1980 onwards Colour TV population started growing rapidly.

    There after, multi channels and private channels in addition to Doordarshan.

    In Punjab, Amritsar, Jallandar, Ludhiana and Patiala, in addition many other towns of Punjab TV was there.

    During those days very popular serial was " HUM   LOG"

    You appear to be NRI and visited Punjab in late 70s, and you could not notice TV at that time.
