Was Telstra responsible for fatalities in the Sydney_Hobart yacht race in 1998 ?

Telstra was a sponsor and was providing weather information.

It's unclear to me why Telstra didn't postpone the start.

I haven't seen the question asked in the media as to whether recommendations to postpone the start were ignored by Telstra. I haven't seen the question of criminal liability posed by the media.

Telstra's involvement seemed to me to have been covered up.
