Was The Genesis a waste on Illmatic?

I don't see why that track was really needed for Illmatic. It's a waste of space to me, and it's a horrible intro for an album. what do you think?

No I don't think it was.. The album was only 40 mins long so I don't see how it could be a waste..

Not really. Think about it in the Bible Genesis is the first chapter. So its the beginning and this was the beginning of Nas career. So what other proper way than to name the intro Genesis.
