  1. Yes, that was considered adultery. And no, he wouldn't have been put to death. It does say in the bible that it's punishable by death, but that was not meant literally and has been misinterpreted by later Christian scholars.

  2. While the torah includes the death penalty for many different sins, in reality it was rarely carried out.  In some cases, such as the rebellious son who would be stoned to death, the Talmud says that such a punishment never happened at all, and never will.

So if you are asking if having s*x with a married woman would be considered adultery, the answer is yes.  Does not matter whether she was foreign or not.  When one or both of the partners was married to someone else, it was prohibited to have sexual relations with them.

If you are asking whether someone would have been put to death for it, there's no way to know for sure, as there are no cases on record.

As for your question "what s adultery today ? only to sleep with a married woman or to live with a married woman , a born again one ?"  The answer is the same - according to most religious systems (and some US states, believe it or not) any sexual activity with someone when one or both partners are married to someone else, is adultery.  I don't know what being "born again" has to do with it, other than they would see it as far more heinous a crime than someone who was not religious at all.

  3. Jewish men were encouraged to only marry Jewish women. This was because God knew the foreign women would teach them other gods and other cultures that would take them away from God.

The only time it was permissible was when the foreign woman became a Jew in declaration to God and in Jewish practice.  i.e. Ruth and Rahab.

Adultery, Fornication was always disallowed no matter the background of the woman.
