Was anybody else surprised that Brooke White outlasted Carly Smithson on American idol?

Oh yes, I was shocked!  I was never a fan of Brooke's and I thought she just got more and more full of herself, and when she messed up the lyrics (twice, I believe) the first time they said she handled it professionally and the next time even Paula kind of scolded her...finally.  Carly had a way better voice and they were really tough on her and just seemed to fall for Brooke's little act.  

Carly had way more power and talent, but she couldn't compete with the tiny blonde playing the little church act.  I also think that Carly's tattoos and her husband's looks had something to do with her departure.  America doesn't want to see a girl covered in tattoos...I think it's ok for guys but for some reason, a girl with tattoos is just too wild for America.  And I think that America judged Carly and her husband on their non-conventional looks.  Brooke fit more of the image...but clearly she didn't have the talent.  Thank goodness she didn't win!

ahahaha yeah! i remember that.. i like carly more than brooke.. cause for me brooke is soo pride--ish not like carly whos very humble :)

yes. carly was clearly a better singer than brooke white. i'm surprised she made it as far as she did.
