If you were, I need to know about magazines and comics during the 60's. How much they cost, where they were sold, why you read them, what they were about, your favorite magazines or comics, how you paid for it(parents gave you money or did you earn the money to buy them),etc.

  1. I was a teen in the sixties and there were many many magazines then not as many as now.Teen magazine was very popular then and they were about 25 cents and most of your comics like Marvel Man,Superman, sold for 5 cents or 10cents.many you could buy at drug stores and there were subscriptions. There werent any convenient stores then so grocery stores and drug stores carried many magazines and comics.Readers Digest, was a popular book and Life magazine,Teen as i have said, there were more kids working then  and many bought there own however i am sure some parents bought some for the kids.I hope this helps you.

  2. Comics were 10 cents.  Read superman, the cartoon charaters, etc.    Once in awhile, one went for a quarter.   It was extra thick.  I read sports illustrated, it was a quarter.   My parents got Life, Look, and reader's digest delivered to the house.   They were cheap enough in those days.  As kids we would walk around the area and look for empty soda bottles.   They had a deposit on them.  The 12 oz were worth 2 cents, and the 32 oz went for a whole nickel.   You find a few bottles in the bushes, you would think that you were a millionaire.   We had a lot of fun in those days.  Life was surely a lot simpler.   Good Luck!
