  1. Oh my gosh really, when did it happen? There hasnt been anything on the news about that and normally they'd broadcast something like that straight away. Have a look on the sydney morning herald website

  2. Best source of advice would be to find the phone number of the local police station and call them...ask them if there was an accident, where abouts and if anyone was hurt or killed.

Privacy will stop them giving names most likely, but they'll be able to definitely say yes or no...

There's no help ringing hospitals, etc, as they're legally not allowed to let people know who is there or why - or if people have been brought in from an accident.

No one else other than the police are allowed to release details - so just in case the papers haven't heard yet, police are the best bet. Just be polite and explain why you're calling and they'll help out...promise. Don't be offended if they can't say much - perhaps ask to speak to a sergeant or someone of slightly higher rank who'll have more authority to tell you.

If you can't find the phone number, ring Telstra's directory assistance on 1223 - or your local police station might be able to help.

Hope I helped a bit! Good luck, I really hope your friends are ok...my thoughts are with you & I've seen enough accidents with the Fire/Rescue service to know how awful it is for everyone connected to wait and find out who was in it...
