Was anyone else bored and disgusted with the coverage of the Wimbledon "tennis" tournament?

Wimbledon Tennis (any tv tennis): boring, worse than watching paint dry. Wall to wall coverage of nothing: endless monotony. Total waste of tv time. TV networks would have been better to have signed off. Should be banned completely.

  1. OK never mind the fact that viewers that watch Tennis have a higher education and income level then other demographics. What company would ever want to reach the folks that actually have the money to buy the luxury goods they promote?

You also kind of picked the wrong year to dump on Tennis as NBC had a boost in TV ratings Men's Final  reached 4.6 rating and a 12 share. SI also put this on the front cover.

Otherwise you are like an annoying gnat buzzing in everybodies ear.

  2. I think ESPN in general does a terrible job.  I don't want to see Brad Gilbert talking about stats from the women's match.  When you watch tennis on ESPN you can't really see what's going on and the commentators are terrible.

USA does a much better job with everything.

  3. You're obviously not a tennis fan because every tennis fan LOVED this year's Wimbledon!!!  It was the most exciting Wimbledon ever, from the 1st round to the final.  I am ecstatic that Rafa won...that was such a beautiful and emotional moment for him.  The Williams sister match was a great...it's funny how no matter how well they play throughout the season they surprise you and win a Grand Slam tournament.

  4. well your not into tennis.. get over it....its not just what u like..

  5. Um I'll take tennis ESPN has aired Eating, Poker, Spelling Bees, and CUP STACKING! Theres nothing better then the history and pureness of tennis and the rough fast paced hockey action, everything else is just grown men beating eachother with there purses

  6. I am sorry that you felt that way about this year's Wimbledon, even though both men's and ladies finals drew their highest ratings in quite a number of years.

There were a lot of upsets early on in the tournament which made things very entertaining to watch. Also we got to see a lot of really great matches in the early rounds. I don't think anyone is ever going to forget that lucky net cord point that saved Ivanovic from being kicked out in the second round anytime soon, or the match itself, which went the distance with both players playing brilliantly all the way to the last point. I still look back on that match and my heart still aches a little for Nathalie Dechy. LOL This was, hands down, one of the best women's matches we have ever seen in the early rounds of a slam for quite some time.

Then there was the amazing comeback of Marat Safin. A player that everyone seems to love a lot. It was very pleasing to watch his run all the way to the semis, ousting the third seed, Novak Djokovic along the way on that incredible run.

And who could dare forget the wonderful story that marked Jie Zheng's remarkable run to the semis this year. Becoming the first Chinese player, man or woman, to make it to a Grand Slam semifinal, and then pushing Serena Williams to a very tough semifinal win.

Also it was nice to see these two Russians: Elena Dementieva and Nadia Petrova, doing very well at a Grand Slam once again.  Well I was happy to see that. LOL

I believe it satisfied everyone to see both Venus and Serena back in a Grandslam final, a place where they both belong. Also it was even more rewarding to actually see them play a match together where it felt that they both truly wanted to win!!!

And then who could forget the men's final. I believe everything that there is to be said about that final has been said to death by now. It was that GREAT!!!! LOL So I am not going to get into the details concerning how great it was.

Clearly you don't love tennis because even if you were just an occasional fan of the sport, you would have loved this years Wimbledon without any regrets whatsoever!!!

Hey my guy lost in the final but I was still happy to see Rafa win and still happy to have the memories of this years Wimbledon!!!

  7. I'm sorry there weren't enough monster trucks, pyrotechnics and shiny objects to keep your attention.
