Question:

Was anyone else disappointed with the London 2012 segment in the Beijing closing ceremony?

I thought it was a little disappointing to have something so puny being directly the massiveness of the rest of the ceremony. Is it normal to have a modest segment for the next city? What was Beijing's like in Athens?

  3. Yes.

Some Of Beijing Shone Through At Athens

I can’t remember Athens too well, but I do recall that a tiny bit of what Beijing promised us (in advance) at Athens – shone through  ÃƒÂ¢Ã‚€Â“ but all expectations were blown apart (exceeded) when the ‘real thing’ became a reality.

    Ancient Culture Out-coloured The Modern

Having been treated to the visual spectacle (the opening and not so much the closing), in the cultured, gaudy, but refined way that only the Chinese know how to pull off – it would be easy to be let down by what was to follow…

Sure, the London preview was a culture shock (in comparison). Fair enough. But, considering the celebrity trump cards they have in their hands and the double decker bus/ stage, I think the Londoners did not use their good 'tools' to the best effect.

    A Whole Lot Of Loving'?

OK, I’m sure Led Lepp fans would have many a controversial thing to say about the ‘unlikely union’ of Jimmy Page’s (still excellent) guitaring with that of Leona Lewis’s (whom, I shall not comment about, to be kind to her fans) modern pop vocals.

    P.S.

And yes, I did thoroughly enjoy Athens’ opening. It was on par with Beijing’s. And yes, I reckon the ‘next city’s segment’ is probably supposed to be short (but I don't know whether there are any rules about that.)

  4. Was ok considering the small space there was i suppose, could have been better.

I liked it when the bus transformed.

  5. i remember that Chinese part in Athens close Ceremony was magnificent to...it had some dragons and generally the spectacle was great!I think that China had the BEST olympics even better than Greece's...there's no comparison after all between the two countries:greece>>10 millions of ppl

                  china>>>1.5 Billions of ppl

    THEY WERE JUST GREAT

and as Rogue said:i don't think if there will be better Olympics than China's!

  6. It was a little disappointing for me too...imo they should've done a better job, it just wasn't enough for this kind of ceremony and the huge crowd.

  7. I thought it went overboard on a political correctness / multi cultural theme.  Could have done something a bit classier. But then again that's probably why London won the games in the first place.

I live in Scotland and they keep stating that these games will be great for all parts of Britain. I can't see how. It is London / England's games and that is how the world will perceive it.

  8. i heard it wasnt that great. i live on the west coast and it's 12:15pm so it wont come on till 8pm. i did see the photos on yahoo and it wasnt good
