I'm just wondering as my son is still babbling away, he can say a couple of words but that's it. Should he not be speaking more or not?

  1. My son did the exact same thing! he is 23 months now and he can say about 30 words maybe...but he still just babbles away at times. your son  sounds perfectly normal, he will slowly but surely start to pick up more and more words. I think my son babbles when he needs to say something but he doesn't know how to say it in words, in their mind they are saying something very important. Just make sure you acknowledge him when he is babbling, or he will start to think you don't care what he's saying to you.

  2. Yes, my daughter just turned 1 yesterday and she babbles a lot.

she can say just few words and not perfect either.  I don't know if that is normal or not for her age, but she will eventually talk no hurry :-)

  3. It's normal. My son will be two next month, and only within the last month or so has he begun to say things that we could actually recognize. His doc told me that by the time he was 2, he should have a vocabulary of 200-400 words - and I don't even know adults with that many words to say (LOL.)

  4. my son is one and he says about 5 words. im hoping he will talk more too.

  5. Yes, my son is 19 months old, and he still babbles most of the time.  It's only been in the last month that he's really started picking up on the words.  I wouldn't worry; they're all on their own schedules.  :)

  6. my son is 15 months and he babbles all the time . he can say a few words , like the dogs name is tyson, he says "ison" . he can say daddy , bye-bye, bless you (or at least that what it sounds like) . dont worry , he will get the hang of it soon . isnt ti cute though when your little one looks at ou all serious and jabbers something that you have no idea what he said . it makes me laugh :)

  7. My son is a few days short of 19 months and is still just babbling-he has 2 older brothers to talk for him though so I expected this. Don't worry, he will come in time and you'll soon not be able to shut him up! If you're really worried, make an appointment with your health visitor or doctor.
