  1. I dont have any children, but if he needs to take off his shoes that's fine. But if he has to leave his seat for any reason then he needs to put them on

  2. no i dont allow my children to take their shoes off in public because of the bacteria.

  3. its ok as long he doesnt walk barefooted

  4. No I don't.  You don't know who has sat in that seat before you, you don't know who has walked on that floor before you.  He should have been told to keep his shoes on.

  5. as long as he want walking around barefoot than that is ok. its a little gross tho to put sneakers on with no socks

  6. maybe the sneakers are uncomfortable....maybe he needs sandals....barefoot is for the beach

  7. There's nothing wrong with going barefoot AT ALL, in or out of the seat. Please do not listen to the germaphobes. When you regularly go barefoot, feet get very tough very quickly, and there shouldn't be anything sharp in a movie theater anyhow... as for germs, our skin is made to keep pathogens out, as long as he doesn't l**k his toes or props his feet up on the table coming back home, there is NO risk AT ALL from just walking barefoot no matter how dirty the floor is. It's our hands we pick up germs with; the dirt on surfaces that are touched by the hands of many people (in a theater the arm rests, the rest of the chair, the door k***s) may not be as visible but it's likely to be *more* germy than the floor is... and with his hands your son touches his face, the popcorn... not with his feet, any dirt on his feet may look black and gross but is just sitting there without doing any harm at all until you wash it off. Germs are microscopic, the black and sticky things aren't what's hurting you. Only in the US do many people believe it's unhealthy to go barefoot, in most other countries (including the rest of the Western world) it's seen as either harmless or even healthy.

It should also be of interest that in eleven years of going barefoot always and everywhere, I've met dozens of doctors (not for myself but accompanying my mother -I've not been sick at all except for one cold of two days!) and NONE of them has had a problem with my bare feet (this wasn't sitting around on a seat, but in the hospital too). Even in the US, barefooters report many *positive* responses from their health care providers, and confrontations in hospitals and health care centers are far more rare than in stores and theaters. Now who are you going to believe when it comes to health advice, the doctors or the grocery store managers?

Socially speaking, unfortunately some people equate anything alternative appearance with rudeness and bad etiquette. I think that's a sad thing, our differences are what makes life more interesting. Feet are *not* private parts, we shouldn't have to cover them up any more than hands, knees or elbows. And in some cultures going barefoot is even a sign of *respect*; it's a very quiet, soft and gently way of walking, in my opinion I find it *more* respectful than the unfeeling step of a heavy boot.

  8. Pick your battles - this one isn't that big of deal - do you let him go barefoot outside? Don't micro-manage.

  9. Ew, no! Do you know how much food gets spilled on the seats and floors in movie theaters? Those floors are only swept, not disinfected. There are certain public places where bare feet are okay (i.e. the park), but the movie theater is not one of them--those floors are just too disgusting!
