i went to the hospital 3 days ago after a 4 kg weight landed on my hand. and they said nothing came u on the x-rays and that it was a sprain and that it would be fine a in a day or two . i still have a really dull ache at the base of my thumb and a sharp pain if i move it (around the snuff box)plus its really tender. does anyone think i should go back to my doctor?

My step dad used to be a nurse and thinks i may have damaged my scaphoid bone. :/

  1. It wouldn't hurt to go see your doctor. I broke my foot and the ER doctor told me that I needed to put minor pressure on it. I went to the foot doctor a couple of days later and she told me not to put an ounce of pressure on it. I think sometimes, the ER is just too busy and they kind of push out the non-emergency patients.

  2. very true what ur dad said...initially xrays may not show the scaphoid fracture, it takes sometime...wrong diagnosis is common, the fracture will be seen only after bone resorption sometimes weeks after the accident...go for a follow up..
