The sheet said

15/1 Man Utd (scr)

15/1 Chelsea 2

15/1 Arsenal 7

15/1 Liverpool 7

etc

15/1 Hull 52

How does that work? How can all the odds be 15/1....especially Man United. I'm guessing the scr stands for scratch, but then what happens if Man United have a c**p season, finish 3rd or 4th, surely loads of teams would fall within their points bracket, esp when teams like Spurs and A Villa were 20. Or am I reading this the wrong way.

Cheers

  1. what bookies?

man utd are clear favourites and chelsea are just behind then its arsenal and then liverpool.

  2. I don't really understand what you are asking. If Man Utd have a c**p season then of course they will lose.

Basically the league table starts with all the handicap points added on. So before the season even starts, Man Utd are bottom with 0 points while Hull will be top with 52 points. Then points are added as normal throughout the season. Whoever is top at the end wins the handicap!

Its a bet I like to do, especially as you can usually go e/w for a top 4 finish at 1/4 odds.

Just as a pointer, last years winners were Everton and the season before it was Reading.

  3. All teams except MU have the stated number of points start. The winner at the end of the season is the team with actual points and starting points added together. The real odds for a perfect handicap would be 19-1 so the bookies take is 25% i.e. 20 x 1/16 = 1.25. This means that for every 125 which is bet pro rata, the bookie keeps 25.
