  1. He truly was a worthy opponent but,Anderson caught him .Anderson is the best in the world now except maybe Fedor, but Irvin has extreme knockout power and could probobly beat Griffin or Jardine,he just hasn't got matched up with them.Bar none though anderson is in his prime now and will destory Cote when they meet.

  2. Stat wise he was worthy . Silva is just a great fighter . The one thing you may not know if that 4 other's were offered the shot at Silva , but Irvin was the only one who excepted the fight .

  3. Irvin is okay.  He really made his name from his quick KO of Houston Alexander, who I feel as a glass chin.  I think a more exciting fight would have been Silva versus anyone around the level of Tito Ortiz...  It sounds strange, but the reality is that SIlva was too big and more powerful than Irvin.  People do not realize that Silva still had to cut to get to 205...

  4. no,,,, bottom of the barrel,,,,Silva-vs-Silva is the fight i wana see

  5. For the novice Irvin certainly looked like a great opponent for Silva based on his physique, and intimidating look. If you look at the hours he spent training in BJJ, and his Muay Thai tutelage from Fairtex also looked impressive. But the fight itself showed him to be a clown. Kudos to Silva for the quick K.O.

  6. Of course he was a worthy opponent.

Silva is a great fighter. Were Rich Franklin, Dan Henderson, Nate Marquardt, Travis Lutter or Chris Leben worthy opponents? Of course they all were. Silva was just better the night that he fought them all.

Irvin is a legitimate fighter. Anyone that says otherwise is ill informed. He threw a kick that he should not have thrown and suffered the consequences.

Any fighter can be beaten by an other fighter on any given night.

  7. He was a worthy oponent, has 2 incredible and fast knockouts to his name and is very heavy handed. He also trained with Rampage a while back and Rampage said he was one of the hardest hitters he ever sparred with!

  8. I think Irvin is an OK opponent but not a great one. In most of his fights he just seems to get lucky this time he was very unlucky.

  9. NO irvin got laid out in the first round in like 30 seconds
