Was it a bad idea to tell them i was leaving?

So i just recently had a job interview at Levis/Dockers. I was told the hours, the days they would call me back in, and it seemed that they were going to hire me. Today i called to check up on my interview and they knew i was expected to go out of town, i told them i wasn't sure as to when i would be leaving and coming back i gave an estimated time, and they seemed okay with it at the inteview; now when i called them and the manager brought it back up she seemed a little iffy about the situation.. now im worried they are going to hire someone else because i opened my mouth and told them i was going out of town. Was that a good idea or should i just have waited.

The only reason why i said something was because the manager and the hiring manager both told me that they were very lenient about letting people off, so i thought it wouldn't be a bad idea for me to tell them i would be going on vacation. Now im wondering if i should have kept my mouth shut.

  1. I think you did the right thing by telling them.  It looks better on you to be honest, and chances are by being honest, you'll get a good recommendation from them later on in the future.

  2. I always say be upfront about everythikng.. If they love you, they will want you no matter what you have planned in your personal life.

  3. I think you should have waited until they hired you and then explained the situation.

  4. honesty is the best policy...

maybe they won't hire you, and you'll find a better, higher paying job.

don't show that you're scared, be confident.  act like it's normal practice, and say, "thanks so much for understanding..." when you talk to them about it.

    good luck buddy!
