  1. ehh it doesnt really matter since they arent in contention   plus they have a lot of good prospects

  2. When you arnt going any where free up money and get some minor leagur prospect a page out of the devil rays hand book

  3. I love Casey Blake, but the Indians were not going to give a soon-to-be 35-year old Blake the contract he was going to ask for. The catcher we got looks like a younger Victor Martinez. He has a .323 batting average with 14 home runs and 96 RBI's in A ball. That's something to get excited about. This catcher could possibly play for the Tribe in 2009 or 2010 with Kelly Shoppach and move Victor Martinez to 1st base, where he will sustain less damage to his body.

Oh, and to everyone too nieve to understand the minor league process (especially you barbell405):

I am sick and tired of hearing we traded Sabathia for no-name minor-leaguers. Have you ever heard of Matt LaPorta? Did you ever take time to realize he leads ALL OF CLASS AA ball in home runs? Did you know he was the 7th overall pick and was Milwakee's top prospect? Did you ever take time to find any of this out?

I bet you were pretty upset when the Indians traded Bartolo Colon for a bunch of "no-name" minor leaguers. Yeah, no-names for sure: Grady Sizemore, Cliff Lee and Brandon Phillips. Terrible trade for the Indians, NOT!

Have you ever thought just for a minute where all the big-league all-stars come from? Hmm, maybe the MINOR LEAGUES! So, next time before you jump to conclusions about no-name minor leaguers, maybe educate yourself a little more.

  4. Give Mark Shapiro a chance, he knows what he's doing.

  5. Give Mark Shapiro a CHANCE? That guy knows NOTHING about the Indians!!! And h**l YES it was a bad idea! Yeah, lets trade our BEST pitcher for two no name minor league players then trade away our best infielder!!!  Shapiro is the biggest ******* idiot in baseball! I WAS an Indians fan until today! **** 'em! I'll NEVER watch another Indians game in my life! I'm just glad my dad isn't alive to see this!

  6. No, it wasn't a bad idea. Casey's never been worth more on the market than he's worth right now, we got the most we possibly could for him. He's a great ballplayer, and a great team player but the opportunity was right since we're so far behind. Plus, Blake's contract is up at the end of the year. I think he would very much consider returning here next year, and he definitely wouldn't be out of the Indians price range. I very well may be back in '09.

  7. We knew it would probably come to it. Realistically, at 13 games behind the White Sox, the Indians are at best a long shot to make it to the play offs. They picked up a couple of young "promising" players, that only time will tell if they got value. Personally as a fan, I will miss Casey very much. I guess the pressures on Marte to show his worth, or the Indians to fill 3rd base some other way.

  8. i had no idea about that. i am a true cleveland fan.  that was probably a bad idea casey was a pretty good player
