Was it a blood blister?

About 6 months ago I noticed this bump just below my knee. It was basically like an extra flap of skin so I didn't take much notice of it.

Then one day as I was getting dressed, I noticed that it had become purple. It also popped out just like a mole. I decided to get it checked later that week.

However, the next day I banged my knee against a table leg and it really hurt! I looked down and there was blood gushing all the way down my leg. It didn't hurt at all!

After a week or so, it healed by itself and is now a little flab of skin again...

I'm confused... was it a blood blister?

  1. I can not say one way or another but I suggest seeing a doctor. Better to be safe than sorry. Also most blood blisters are caused by getting the skin pinched and since it is on your knee it might be something more. Get it checked. A 50 dollar office call is better the the worst alternative.

  2. A blood blister is skin over a little "pool" of blood, but the blood doesn't come out. You can see the blood clearly; To make it easier, a blood blister is a blister with blood in it.
