  1. it was a big mistake, the yankees simply got desperate for starting pitchers at the time.to be a starter requires intelligence to set up hitters and work out of jams, not just a powerful arm and that takes time to develop...Joba was much better and effective in the bullpen..He needed more time to develop his arsenal...

  2. no it was not because they need better pitching then that

  3. At first I thought yes. But thank god they did! Without Hughes, Kennedy and Wang we were in serious trouble. In my opinion, Joba saved our season--at least gave us a chance .They will not make the same mistake when he gets back. He has a history of injuries which is why they were so protective of him last year. If they are smart they will get Hughes back soon, maybe Pavano (collective groan!) and return Joba to the set-up role. He was too valuable there. If we didn't have all the injuries then Joba would have been fine in the bullpen. Either way, the guy is a stud and has proven that he can perform in both roles. Go Yanks!

  4. Yes, that move will come back to haunt them.

  5. No. Joba did very well as a starter before his injury and its a minor injury and he should return soon. In the mean time, they ended up desperately needing a starter due to injuries and until they traded too many guys away, their bull pen was fantastic. Bruney isn't the same lights out pitcher he was before his injury and Geise is being forced into the rotation now too, so the bull pen is weak. But you can't question the move because of later injuries. Joba's injury wasn't do to being in the rotation, it was due to inexperience at pitching in 100 degree heat. He'll be alright in a few weeks.

  6. yes because joba was the best reliever and now taking him out is going to make their bull pen sloppy ... they need their pitchers to go 7 innings now without joba there

  7. either way, they're missing a pitcher.
