Question:

Was it a drive by shooting?

hi

i am inquiring about a "shooting" i was involved in a few years ago. i am trying to find out what caliber or type of bullet it could have been.

while i was walking in san francisco, in an area notorious for drug sales, a car slowed down, to the side of me. it did not stop, and nobody stuck their hand out the window, the window was already down though, but it was too dark out to really see anything, and i really wasnt looking in the first place.

anyways, i heard a "pop" sound and instantly felt an impact. it felt like getting punched, real hard, and i thought i saw something fly off of me. the car kept driving. when it happened, i was high on cocaine

here's why its confusing to me: the impact (hit me under the collar bone) knocked me back, but not down, and while i was bleeding quite a bit, nothing was lodged inside, and like i said i thought i saw something bounce off of me. i never went to the hospital foe it since nothing was lodged in me. there is a scar there, though not as big as i'd expect.

i dont know what else it could have been, and i remeber hearing the pop. i am thinking it was either a rubber bullet (which seems odd for a scumbag criminal to use), or a very small round, such as .22, or that it somehow bounced off the bone.

do any of those explanations sound possible, or was it something else you think? i tell people the story, and show the scar, but no one believes me

  1. If you didn't see a flash (from gun powder igniting in the dark), then it could have been a bebe gun. Or, you could have been hit by a bullet fragment rather than the whole thing. In any case, you should avoid going back to Bayview/ Hunter's Point. People get killed there every day.

  2. Sounds like a paintball gun to me.  .22s still have some energy, especially that close and at point blank, paintball guns can hurt pretty bad.

  3. it does sound like you were shot.

maybe a bebe would sound right but a rubber one may be it.

have you considered be examed to be sure?

  4.   next time pay for your junk and they won't shoot you.

  5. it could have been any one of a million things! None of us were with you when it happened, so there is really no way for us to know what you got hit with. Count yourself lucky that you survived this incident!  if you were high on coke though, this should serve as a lesson to get off the junk and stay out of drug-infested areas. If you hang in the bad section of town, and your only business there is drugs, then you are inviting bad things to happen to you.

Also, my advice if you plan on traversing through bad sections of town, is to get yourself mentally and physically "equipped" with the right state of mind, the right "tools", situational awareness, and maybe the next time you'll be ready for what happens.

Learn to deal with these punks using the terms they understand!  Drugs put your mind and body at a huge disadvantage to do that!

  6. It could have been a rubber bullet. I dont know why but its possible. maybe something like a .22 caliber bb pistol. who knows.

  7. You bled a lot, and now have a scar. Never x-rayed. You might have a source of lead, slowly poisoning you. It could have migrated anywhere in your body. I suggest a fluoroscope exam, and see what there is to see. If something shows up, the MD's will want a formal X-ray before going after it, to make good plans, and review exactly where all the local named nerves and such lie, to minimize complications. Regards, Larry.

  8. I know its sounds stupid but.....

Some one may have shot a sling shot......

They shoot big or little steel balls that DO break skin. When i shoot mine it makes a "Pop" sound. Kind of like when a big rubber band breaks........

You never know what dumb druggies will do.....

  9. Stop doing drugs!!!

  10. Sounds like a .22

It is possible for a .22 to bounce off. It does happen every once in a while.
