Yes and No. Yes because Manny is Manny and he says and does things that hurt the red sox chances of winning. Also, because the red sox showed that they would not put up with his antics. No because he is on of the greatest and most feared hitters in the game and Jason Bay is nowhere near as good a hitter as Manny. I think they would have a better chance to win the world series with Manny than with Jason Bay.

i think (being a die-hard red sox fan my whole life) that the red sox made a good deal. even though manny was my favorite player i still think it was a good move by theo. jason bay is a rising star. he has hit the ball very well the past 3 or 4 years and is continuing to hit it very well this year. manny has been in a "slump"/injured all season. bay was heathly all season this year. even though manny has a better batting average than bay (.299 to .282) bay has more homers to his name (Bay- 22 HRs - Manny - 20 HRs). Manny has 3 more RBIs than Bay but compared to what manny has done in the past for this club that is nothing. In the long run i think that bay is the better pick. he will not be a tough player to manage and doesnt have the attitude problem like manny. even though im gonna miss the entertainment i loved from manny ramirez, trading him for bay is a good move by the red sox. Manny is still gonna be Manny and thats why he'll still be my favorite MLB player

Once Boston sees what Bay does on a daily basis, they will wonder why they put up with Manny's antics for so long. Bay is not only a very good ballplayer, but a great clubhouse presence and good for the community. He may even help the Sox to a pennant!
