Manny wanted out of Boston, and extending the season into October wouldn't let him out of Boston very fast, so I think he would have sabotaged the team.

the red sox are paying the remainder of his salary so no they didnt dump the money and Bay is good but is not a Manny.  Bay is unproven in the playoffs as well. they need to rely on hitting because their bullpen is shakey. They will miss his bat dearly.

I think it was the best thing for the Red Sox. I always had a love/hate attitude with Manny he was funny on the field and obviously a great offisive player but it was just time for the Red Sox and Manny to part ways. I think the Red Sox will do fine without him. Jason Bay cant replace Manny's power but he can bring great defence and pretty good  offence. Jason Bay is not that far behind Manny in the stats department. Manny is hitting 299. with 20hr, 68 RBI.

Bay's stats are 282. with 22hr, and 64 RBI.

The Red Sox have alot of young talent and hopefully Bay will only add to that.

To them personally, yes. As for the better decision all the eay around team wise, not exactly. They wont miss his immature bahvior, but surely miss his offense. They are struggling as is, and remains to be seen if this will furtehr hurt their chances. Im sure Yankees are smiling/happy.

The deal was horribly one sided, but when you hate someone that much i guess it seems worth it.

It was a good idea to trade him, however i feel we didn't get enough out of the trade. With a player of Manny's quality we should've gotten Bay and Billingsley from the Dodgers. God knows we need relief pitching. Plus, now we have more money to spend in the offseason.
