My beloved little 3-4 pnd Chihuahua silently disapeared within three- four minutes at 6:30 am on acreage i moved to 6 mths ago when i let her out with her larger 8-10 pnd sister. There was no barking by her sister which I found strange and I see hawks and owls (at night) in the area and was told to watch out for them but now I'm being told it was probably a coyote. I wish I new what to look for. I don't let my remaining dog out of my site but would really like to know if it could of been a hawk. I know she didn't wander because she's a scardy cat & ALWAYS the first in the house to bury under the covers or lay at my feet and she would never let anyone near her she didn't know. I live in northern Brentwood Calif. What do you think, I want to educate myself as much as possible. I did just order a device that emits the sound of a cougar and you can program it for dusk to dawn, had great reviews, I will try anything right now ....Kelli

  1. If it was anything, it would be an owl. Coyotes don't eat their pups. It would be like a pup to it. Owls eat many things.

    Hope I could Help

  2. It's more likely that it was an owl than a hawk. Hawks tend to go for smaller things like mice, but owls have been known to carry off cats and other small animals. I'm sorry you lost your puppy, and I hope you're able to keep an eye on the other one so nothing happens to it either.
