No, because with Santana the Mets are no better than they were last year at this time, and they'll choke this year just like they choked last year.  Besides... he's not a great pitcher, just a good one.  The best starting pitcher in New York this year has been Mike Mussina, and it isn't even close.

In hindsight, of course it was. But the Yankees for once decided to hold onto their young players.

Was it a mistake for the Twins to choose Humber instead of Pelfrey in the package from the Mets?

Only time will tell. Cabrera's had his issues and Kennedy was mostly injured this season, so it's too soon to say. Plus, Santana hasn't exactly been lights-out for the Mets. (Note all the home runs he's allowed.)

But let's remember this, too. The Mets got Santana for a much cheaper price than the Yankees or Red Sox would have had to pay because the Twins didn't want to see Santana come back and haunt them immediately. Unless the Mets play the Twins in interleague play or the World Series, that's not going to happen.

And the Twins also wanted Chein-Ming Wang or Joba Chamberlain in addition to Cabrera and Kennedy, so it wasn't that simple.

yes because kennedy hasent been that good and melky is not hitting. so they should have gotten Santana because they need better pitching, their pitching has not been that hot.

The Yankees would have never gotten him - The Twins ownership stated that they would never have traded Santana to an American League team. It would have never happend.
