We read of beheading & stabbing & kidnapping & rapes & other cruel stuff a lot these days.

Was it always like this ? Are we only hearing more about it because of the wide journalism.

  1. it is better covered now.

  2. It has always been like this in some way. Its more that its given front page news because fear and death sell and so does the glamorization of these acts.

Its just now we have been diluted with means to deliver this news with tv., the internet, radio, newspaper, etc.

  3. Law and order have been problems from ancient time.

In history, crime and punishment were always in pair.

  4. Where I'm from the crime rate supposedly has gone down.Yet I still hear about a lot of crime still happening, just different kinds now a days.Unfortunately, people are taking innocent people down now.I think it used to be more personal or petty crimes many years ago.

I think the reason we're hearing more about it is because we now have international news and the internet.I've heard of crime happening in England just through this site,I don't think I would of heard about other wise

  5. We have more people than ever before, so we probably have more crime than ever before, too.

We also have white-collar corporate and governmental crime. The present administration has committed eight years of crime after crime that has gone unpunished. Why?

  6. Good Question. I think a lot is more widely broadcast nowadays but also i think we have become out of control. Their is more freedom now to buy alcohol and there are more pubs and clubs open late so more time is spent drinking. i think general attitudes have changed respect is something to be earned rather than just given. Language has become far more slang and acceptable. Punishment has become far less so its not as much of a deterrent as 40 yrs ago. More people work longer hours nowadays and more women/mothers work so the family home is left unattended open to crime. The list is endless but i think crime has gone up and i think violence has increased. i think this is because of the violence in dvds and video games and how we have let it into society.
