  1. Yes, it was. Actually spelt Broomielaw, the station was on the lines from Darlington to Barnard Castle, Middleton in Teesdale and Tebay. It was the station before Barnard Castle. Like many country stations it was built in the middle of nowhere, with little apparent purpose, other than to serve Streatlam House, until the vast army camps were built at Humbleton, Streatlam Grove etc. Although services on the line ceased over 40 years ago, the remains of the station still exist, mouldering away in a cutting beneath a farm track.
