Question:

Was it evolution or different creation...?

How do we explain physical racial differences? We know that two caucasian parents CANNOT give birth to a dark-skinned person like an african coz that would question science and common sense! No chinese baby can be born from two african parents.

Skin colour; I mean, how did evolution (natural environmental conditions) add or remove melanin from the skin if humanity really has a common ancestor? what about Lip thickness (predominantly large in among africans), nose shape, eye colour, body height etc? How do you explain all this?

The way I see, it's EITHER humanity has a common ancestry but evolution has really created all these physical differences OR each race had its own ancestor created with these physical features by "I-don't-know-who" in order to explain this.

I'm not familiar with the science of genetics and evolution but can someone really enlighten on this pls? I'd very much appreciate a detailed but clear answer.

What's your personal or professional opinion? Thanks.

  1. There was one group of hairy ancestors who spead around the world over the past 200,000 years and settled all over. They all kept changing, cut off from each other, even the ones from where ever they all came from. They changed because the world went through major ice ages etc. But the resulting races and their differences are superficial because it has been such a short time for evolution. You cannot mistake a human of any race for anything but a member of the species. All of the races can make fertile offspring with each other. Mind and language are shared by all as well as the more 'spiritual' qualities. I go with common ancestor group.

  2. Its a well known fact all races were decended from one person...dark skinned...as the people moved to different parts of the world...their skin tone changed. The different weather conditions for the different looks contributed plus the stronger genetics playing in.As cross breeding continues,I look for everyone to sonner or later becaome all the same color again with just facial features being different...not that I am saying this is a bad thing,Dont want anyone to think Im racist.I just think it had to do with the early people leaving to find different climates to live in

  3. Evolution explains this and in fact the differences seem to provide very good evidence that evolution is/was occuring.  Humans have a very wide range extending into many environments.  Some of those environments are very hot and sunny.  Those environments require more melanine which absorbs UV light.  UV light will damage skin and cause cancer so the absorbtion of it is very important.  Caucasions generally live in much cooler places.  There is a disadvantage of producing too much melanine.  First, it is a waste of resources.  Second, it blocks absorbtion of vitamin D which is critical to bone formation.  The differences between races is pretty superficial as you pointed out, bigger lips, dark skin, etc.  These are specific traits that are useful in coping with specific environments.  Mutations and evolution will happen only over several generations or much more.  There is no way you can observe it.  The way natural selection works, if there is a 0.000001 per cent advantage to those with less melanine in those where it is not needed, it won't be long before those with less melanine dominate.  It is difficult to explain and purely mathmatics.  Evolution can happen with minute advantages.  It is a concept that many don't understand.   Anyway, I hoped that helped.  It is hard to explain a very complicated subject in a paragraph or two.

  4. Adaption is the crux of evolutional theory.  DNA findings say that we all have a common ancestory with the aboriginal peoples of Australia.  A darker/lighter skin or wider/smaller nose would be a form of adaption to all the person to live in a hot to cold climate.  An adaption with wider nostrils would enhance the ability to breath in arid air from such areas as Africia...I too studied anthropology and felt there were a variety of hominids, Java man, Cro-magnon, homo sapien.  When we did the lab work for cultural there were definite differences in bone density and bone size for example between homo-Africanis and Java Man.  SO consider and read about adaption.  Also Darwin was supposed to have been at sea for a very long time and had a raging fever when he found galopagos islands.  then Mendal came along and blew Darwin out with the concept that divirsity must be intorduced.  THere were no mixed cultures until they were brought together.

  5. Adam and Eve - we dont know that they were Caucasian - had all the genes available for the body to produce the skin tones etc that were needed.  As certain groups of people migrated to different places on the globe, their bodies, being created adaptable, were able to handle the changes and eventually became best adjusted to their environment.  Now its not evolution in the Darwinism sense that they altered their physical appearances because of the environment they lived in.  Darwanistic 'evolution' says that they would have changed their complete species - their DNA would have undergone a change. They already had the genes, and we were created to be able to endure different extremes for long periods of time with our bodies natural flexibility.  These changes are like someone being born in Texas - being able to tolerate higher heat levels than someone born in a cooler climate, merely on a larger scale, with certain characteristics passed on from strongly to the next generations, resulting in the massive differences in race.

  6. Why is it so hard to believe that superficial differences in appearances evolved in humans?

Different races are best adapted to their environements - tall, thin and dark for hot arid African plains - short and stocky for cold Arctic areas - and so on.

Races also developed because of sexual preference - if you're attracted to the tall thin dark type, you tend to mate and have tall thin dark babies.

If not, then how do we have cats of so many different appearnces? Fluffy Persians and sleek Siamese and little orange tabbies...Or dogs? Chihuahuas and Great Danes - different as they may appear - are both of the SAME species. And they have a much shorter evolutionary history as our domesticated friends than humans do in spreading out all over the world.

There really are very simple scientific explanations that only don't make sense if you're looking at the question backward. If you're looking for something to support your religious belief, you can dig up just about anything, stick a somewhat skeptical question mark on the end and pretend it's a genuine refutation. Or you can look at the actual issue in question and try to understand it logically.

  7. i dont believe in evolution!!

    was god fo sho x

  8. I think it is environment, especially how much sun you get.

  9. This is really complex.  Go and study genetics for three years and maybe you'll get some answers.  But my view is that these are so complex we will be studying human genetics for many more years before we really know the answer.
