  1. **I agree with you Dannii.  I liked seeing the umpies back in the old fashioned white.  It's a shame that they don't wear it more often.  I think they like to look a bit fancy by wearing different colours.  Maybe they got sick of the 'white maggots' tag lol.**

  2. Yes, I agree. Sometimes AFL needs to keep some traditions! It's a shame that the umpires are coloured now, because we can't call them "White Maggots!".

  3. i liked it it opens up the colours for new teams - golcoast lemons

    lol

  4. Yeah was brilliant, good on em' for wearing those colours. Really brought out the spirit that todays football is still widely associated with the footy that was played fifty (or more) years ago

  5. Yeah it was good to see the umps back in the traditional white... but when teams have a lot of white on their guernseys the umpires sometimes get mixed up... especially at the speed the game is played and if the players only catch out of the corner of their eye.. beside i think the colours look good for a change from white week...

  6. Yeah it was good, they looked like real dorks, but I wanted to see the goal umps in the long Mr Whippy coats and the old pork pie hats they used to wear

  7. Why change colours WHITE is the original colour worn

  8. I dnt really care for umpires they always get things wrong.

  9. yes it was great they should be in white every week, there is no need for umps in different colours or so called clash jumpers, the umps wore white for 100 years so why the need for change?

  10. Yes a good decision. It removes the need for earth-shattering decisions about what colour to deck the umpires in for televised games. Must focus on what to do about new teams entering the comp.

  11. Danni

This may not be the most popular answer, but did you notice that when the umps get wet, as they did last night, the white gear becomes transparent - real wet T shirt look.

What a pity that it was the weedy little umpires and not, for example, Jonathan Brown, Buddy F, Matty Richardson (or anyone at Geelong) who were thus displayed?

I like the umps in colors. If the AFL is worried about them clashing with the players' colors, they can always put them in lipstick pink.

Unless of course the Gold Coast Gorillas choose that color?

  12. This is about the first thing that you have ever posted of which I am in agreeance with!

I commented to my missus, during the game, that it was so good to see the umpires back wearing white. And none of the players seems confused by them wearing that colour. I did not notice players from either team hand-balling or kicking the ball to them.

  13. They should always wear white. I really never worked out why they changed to bright colours. Bring back the white rabbits!

  14. Not cool.

  15. Umpires are in white in the day because in they day it is warmer, white keeps you cooler.

Thats why the umpires in cricket are always in white. because they dont play night matches (only really 20 20)
