if it was his first race with the engine , that why did he back off in last 2 laps, if they were so worried about those 2 laps , how would he race in next GP with same engine

  1. It was a new engine - that is all the more reason why he dropped 2 secs a lap in the last three laps when he was 0.8 secs behind Glock.. that caused it to be Glock's luckier day -

  2. Raikkonen had a new engine at the British GP under the rule which says you can change the engine without penalty once per season. The German GP was the second race for that engine, so he would have had a new engine in Hungary.

    EDIT

He may have had a minor problem during the last couple of laps and backed off to avoid damaging the engine at all. Just because it was the first race for that engine it doesn't mean that there couldn't be a small electrical or ancillary problem with it. I wonder if he feels a bit stupid now for using up his free engine change unnecessarily before the British GP?
