Was it my fault?

I was driving last night on a mediocre busy street. I was about turn into my neighborhood and all of sudden a car hits a dog. I drove by and saw that the dog was still alive but couldn't move. So I tried to catch up to the the car that hit the dog but it sped off. So I come back to the dog to see if i can do something so i put on my hazard lights(I was on the right lane of a two lane street) on so people can slow down. I took the collar off and called the owners. They took a while and during the time I was sitting there making sure nobody would hit it a slowly moving van turns into the right while a speeding car was in the left lane. The car in the left lane hit the van and it was a real bad accident. I was wondering if I am at fault even though the cops let me off?

  1. If you're vehicle was stopped with the hazards on, the other vehicles have no excuse not to have seen it react appropriately to its presence. I'm not sure base on your description which of the other two was at fault, but it definitely wasn't you.

It's tough to have a scary thing happen right in front of you, but sleep well because you were doing the right thing, and some times s&%$ happens!

  2. No,   you are not at fault.    You were not hit,  therefore not involved except as a witness.    It is the responsibility of drivers to adapt to the circumstances they come across when driving.

You may be considered a contributory factor,   but that isn't illegal.

  3. No you were not at fault at all and we need more people like you in this crazy world.

  4. no way i would let u go too u were helping a poor dog

and f*** the person that hit it

  5. no you were being a good person the other people that hit the van was not paying attention to the road

  6. Well you put your car in the way, being a good samaritan, but you were not driving and you were not a road hazard.you had your 4 ways on(a sign of distress and a stopped vehicle)and any one driving on that road is responsible for the actions they take driving. So no,its not your fault, but you are living proof of the old addage" No good deed goes unpunished!"

Bless you for doing the right thing.

  7. YOUR A WONDERFUL PERSON AND IT`S AMAZING YOU DID THAT, MANY PPL IN TODAYS WORLD WOULDN` EVEN STOP TO HELP ANOTHER PERSON,  AND YOU HELPED A DOG, YOUR A GOOD PERSON AND DON`T TAKE OUT ON YOURSELF

THE PERSON IN THE CAR WASN`T LOOKING AT THE ROAD

BTW DO YOU KNOW THAT EVEN IF TALKING ON A PHONE IS BANNED MANY PPL STILL DO IT

THATS WHY ACCIDENTS MAINLY HAPPEN SO REALLY DON`T TAKE IT OUT ON YOURSELF
