I understand that people are into symbolism. And it DOES matter in real life, but Kent did turn sides. Is the actual moral that evil triumps good becasue both Wayne & Kent turned to unethical methods to bring justice. I know it is just a movie, but the concept was very real....

  1. the whole of Gotham city put their faith into harvey dent. he was making a stand and becoming the white knight that everyone needed to believe in. if they had found out what he had done, all of their faith would have been for nothing, people need something to believe in. a notion or an icon. that is why so many people turn to religion, because they are afraid of death. even if they don't believe in any of the other beliefs in the religion, they will become religious so that they don'thave to be afraid of death. they will have faith in harvey dent so that they realize that it doesn't have to be this way, and that making a stand is so important that dent died to protect them from crime. he did what he did to try and encourage others to do the same, and it started to happen, but evil could have killed that. the same thing happened with Bruce Wayne'ss parents, they lived for a cause and their death spurred action. they made dent out to do the same so that the same thing would happen

  2. Yes it was important. here is why in my opinion:

1: dent went through a very strong psychological trauma before he died so he was not thinking straight.

2: people need to be inspired and heroes -like dent- get the job done.

3: it was a noble thing to do after dent spent his life fighting what he later became so considered it an honorary medal.

4: his last name is Dent not kent (kent is superman's last name)

  3. The message of the movie is that people rely on faith amidst very troubling times-- it keeps them together unlike anything else and is therefore vital. The people of Gotham had lost a lot already and they really could only rely on the faith which they vested in their heroes. Without that, things would appear to be lost, especially if they knew their own champion, Harvey Dent, was a fraud. The Joker knew this, and believed that if you could corrupt even the best things (Harvey Dent was the best thing Gotham knew in the war on crime; Batman was viewed as a vigilante), people would have nothing else to aim up to.

I liked your question; hope my answer helps.

  4. If Harvey Dent was found out, the city would have turned chaotic! That whole ferry boat full of criminals would have been set free.

The moral is to help other people keep the faith maybe...

  5. Harvey Dent!  And yes it was...
