  1. There are all too many people saying "oh, yeah...well...other countries are pretty bad too, so we should just let it slide"

Brilliant piece of stupidity there. Imagine being up in court for something and your defence consists entirely of "Yes, M'Lud, I was the one what dunnit, but, y'see, there are geezers out there who done stuff what's almost as bad as me, yeah? And they ain't up in the dock"

    And getting off.

  2. I agree with you that China should not be holding the Olympics due to their human rights abuses. Yet I would also urge all those who actually do care to pressure our own Government and our allies the USA into stopping their own abuses of human rights.

  3. considering that US, and other countries have Human Rights issues i shouldn't really just pick on China, they have but are not simply alone in this.

  4. US not violate human rights? guantanamo bay is a massive human rights violation! those people are being kept there indefinetly, for simply fighting for their beliefs.

the US still executes people what planet are the yanks on? lol the british police dont even carry guns, and we stopped executing people decades ago. what about VIETNAM napalm on innocent villages/iraqi jails/slaughter of 10's of thousands of innocent communists in central america?

china has issues but its soon to be a superpower - you can't ignore that.

  5. it was right.now the world can see China for what it really is.

  6. Keep politics out of the Games. BTW did you see the protesters against coal-fired station get arrested? Human rights in the UK?

  7. hey man china is no worser than any other nation asides from its smell...lol

i don't get why ppl are so bent outa shape becuase of what they're doing. it's not like the us hadn't done it at one point

  8. I think it was wrong, but it has been a good thing for China. It has opened up a lot more, the people have more freedoms, and foreign media can move freely etc. And you can't ignore China's economic significance in the world either.

Governments shouldn't have boycotted the games, as I believe sport should be seperate from politics, but I believe individual athletes from across the world should have refused to go. An olympic games without the best athletes from each country is pointless, because the winners will never be the best, just the best of the ones that turned up.

Though if everyone's so keen to keep politics and sport separate, why are all the PMs and Presidents of the world flying out there this morning??

  9. Human Rights abuses? 2 words: guantanamo bay

  10. Can you guys please explain to me how Guantanamo Bay is violating human rights? This is war - Guantanamo bay could at it's very worst only be violating the Geneva Convention. The US does not violate any human rights.

Even comparing the US to China is stupid - have you seen the situation over there? People have no rights whatsoever. Government remove their houses, move people around force them into jobs and take their money all against their will. People can only protest with special permission from the government. If you think the US is like China, you'd be in for a shock if you knew how things were over there.

    [EDIT]

Wow, just wow. Are you frekkin' serious? Do you really believe that ths US is just the same as China when it comes to human rights?

Well, I guess your comment on "dead Iraqis" explains it all - you must be a naïve hippie to say that. Even equating war as being a human rights violation is very stupid

  11. Olympics should be ban from everywhere.
