  1. Look at every ones living situations American's and Iraqi's and if you can say life is good then it was right. If the people are losing there job, homes and lives then it was wrong.

  2. the Soviet-Afghan war was a Soviet invasion at the request of a pro-soviet leader in Afghanistan. While American funding did give rise to the Taliban, the U.S. could not let the USSR control a strategic country like Afghanistan.

  3. Of course not. Unless the US was asked, then its like somebody butting in on a private-though extremely loud- conversation. If it got to the extent that it was threatening other people in the world, then they can butt in. But other than that the US needs to focus on something else.

  4. It bit us in the behind on 9-11, but had the USSR been succesful, we may have been in world war 3 by now, so I believe it was the right move that was then mismanaged and led to our current problems in the middle east.

  5. No - we needed a distraction so that we could blind side USSR.

Read watch Charlie Wilson's War on his own interview...

Taliban = Al-Qaeda = Mujahideen aka freedom fighter / insurgent / terrorists (Nationalists) as known in our neck of the woods - remember the Sendero, Farc, EZLN - the list could go on...

  6. Revenge for Vietnam. The pentagon wanted Afghanistan to be the Soviet's Vietnam. Succeeded in that but sowed the seeds of the Taliban and Alkieda

  7. Absolutely, It was the last defeat of the Soviet Union. The former Soviet States are free as a result. Let's keep it that way.

  8. It was both right and wrong for the United States. It was right at the time, or so it seemed, because the soviet union lost. But their method was wrong. It was the cold war so, U.S. wouldn't risk nuclear war and use troops, so the CIA brought in Osama Bin Ladin and other locals and gave them training in surveillance, I.E.D.'s, and various terrorist strategies. Then on 9-11, it backfired making America realize it actually wasn't the correct thing to do. As you can see, they did defeat the Soviets but at a very high cost.

  9. Your point ?

  10.   It was not right, but was it right for the Soviets to get involved in Vietnam by keeping Ho Chi Minh supplied with weapons and materials to kill Americans ?

This t*t for tat style of war with Russia has been going on since the Berlin Air lifts in 1946.  They use their surrogates and we use ours.

Is either side right, no !  Will it escalate ?   Eventually it will escalate, and it will be impossible to stop once it does !

  11. yes we are police men of the world and nearly everyone realizes it and welcomes our help
