  1. yes exactly it made me respect other peoples choices and opinions and it familiarized me with more cultures eg.the germans : )

  2. Of course it has. Ever since I began understanding the world of football and the many different cultures it's included in, I have learned to respect and appreciate DIVERSITY. Living in a city that is filled with it, I have encountered many people of different ethnicities, not necessarily fans of football, but who have different backgrounds.

It is always great to meet people who share my interest in football but come from a very different family because like this place, we unite and it proves humanity can be just that-UNITED!

  3. Football is not larger than life, but it embraces life in an all-encompassing way in regards of cultures and ethnicities. It adresses the human desire to connect via the use of a common language that transcends linguistic boundaries.

  4. Football being the most internationally followed sport, it does unite nations world wide into one common agreement which is the world of football as we know it. Yes we get to know of new countries, new citiesor the development and changes in these as our own teams play there or as tournaments are hosted there.

For example I had never been to Germany before WC 2006 but when I went there for the semi and the Final of Italy, I loved the place. It was NOT what I expected. It was a NICE country, but I had before a bad opinion of it. Hehe there u go, i wouldnt even mind going back to Germany one day :p

  5. For me i would say that i was always more respectful to other cultures due to my family being a mix of Christian and Muslim heritage.

However you can see that now in the 21st Century that people are starting to accept other cultures especially within sport, how many players there are in the Premiership that have turned to Islam (Eboue, Van Persie, Ribery etc...).

Though some people still don't follow the same guidelines as racism is still a threat to how fans treat players and other fans. Spanish fans towards black players is an example of this.

Another thing for me is at college where i play alongside African, Chinese and other European nationalities because they came to England to play Football. This gave me the chance to learn some of their language and what the country is like.

I agree with you that this forum is a nice example because their aren't many other places where i would go on and see Mexican, English, American and other nationalities discussing together without arguments.
