Was it true that Roosevelt could not stand Churchill ?

These 2 were friends, Roosevelt wanted to fight Germany outright and his excuse to do it was Pearl Harbour. They would not have joined the Germans

Roosevelt was a very friendly man, and found it easy to get on with people.  But he had no GREAT friendship with Churchill.  He certainly preferred Britain to n**i Germany, but had no wish to see the survival of the British Empire. Their friendship was wartime propaganda.  In fact Roosevelt very foolishly preferred Stalin to Churchill in some ways.

As for the second question, presumably if Britain had fallen in 1940, the US would have stayed out of the European war.  In the event, in 1941, Hitler solved Roosevelt's problem by declaring war on the US.

Given that America was supporting England indirectly in the war by monetary means, I would say that that would be a great indication that- in fact- America would not have sided with the n***s.

Furthermore, American soldiers did enter WWII, and when Black American soldiers visited the UK with no segregation, it is a known trigger for the Civil Rights movement, in particular the 'Double V' campaign (V for Victory against n**i Germany, and V for victory against racism in their country).

On the surface, they were cordial friends. They had known each other for many years, going back to the First World War. Their families were also well acquainted. Churchnill's mother, Jennie Jerome, an American, had been friendly with the Roosevelts back in the 19th Century.

They looked forward to meeting each other and carried on a heavy correspondence.

But, of course, they were both politicians and leaders of their respective countries, and often they had different agendas.  They were also both manipulative men and were not above using friendship to get their way. They both shared a dislike for Charles DeGaulle. Churchill also thought that Roosevelt was being hoodwinked by Stalin.

Even before the US formally entered the war,  the US was aiding Britain, overtly and covertly. If Britain had fallen, the US would have entered the war against Germany.  The US would never have entered on the side of Germany, although there were elements in an American politics who would have preferred that the US remain neutral, no matter what.  But all that changed, of course, after Dec. 7th.
