  1. How about Hosea 6:2

  2. Jesus was very educated on the scriptures.

"Now so it was that after three days they (Mary and Joseph) found Him (Jesus) in the temple, sitting in the midst of the teachers, both listening to them and asking them questions. And all who heard Him were astonished at His understanding and answers." Luke 2:46-47

With the resurrection, I think Jesus was referring to all the Messianic prophecies like Isaiah 53. But Jesus not lying, I promise you that.

  3. Jesus knew the Old Testament better than you do. As a Jew he was required to memorize all five books of the Torah.

It will take a minute or two to look up the reference you are looking for so I will come back and edit this when I have it.

Sigh I see no mater what I say will matter to you since you are unwilling to look at the answer.

Isaiah 53:11a  After the suffering of his soul, he will see the light of life....... (does not specifiy a time but does say he will live again.)

In Matthew 12:39-40 Jesus said this: 39He answered, "A wicked and adulterous generation asks for a miraculous sign! But none will be given it except the sign of the prophet Jonah. 40For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of a huge fish, so the Son of Man will be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth

It is an accepted fact (for Christians) that there are parallels between the OT and NT as to events.

  4. See Isaiah 53 chapter, Hosea 6:1, 2

1Come, and let us return unto the LORD: for he hath torn, and he will heal us; he hath smitten, and he will bind us up.

2After two days will he revive us: in the third day he will raise us up, and we shall live in his sight.

    Jonah 1

17Now the LORD had prepared a great fish to swallow up Jonah. And Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights.

    Mark 9:31

31For he taught his disciples, and said unto them, The Son of man is delivered into the hands of men, and they shall kill him; and after that he is killed, he shall rise the third day.

    Matt. 12

39But he answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas:

40For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

41The men of Nineveh shall rise in judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: because they repented at the preaching of Jonas; and, behold, a greater than Jonas is here.

Hosea is the best verse though.

  5. I believe it was in the old Judaic texts.  The prophesy I'm thinking of was written long before Jesus came about and said something to the effect that the Messiah would die and be resurrected after his death.

  6. The answer is so simple, but to give it to a hater will be more damaging.

  7. Could be Talmudic, Midrashic, or from any number of other texts accepted at the time by Judaism but not in the OT.

edit: True. I also find the whole thing dubious since all the available evidence strongly suggests Jesus is a myth. I was merely pointing out that saying "it is written" does not automatically imply that it is written in the OT.

  8. Let's read Daniel 9:26, 27, please:

"“And after the sixty-two weeks Mes·si´ah will be cut off, with nothing for himself. And the city and the holy place the people of a leader that is coming will bring to their ruin. And the end of it will be by the flood. And until [the] end there will be war; what is decided upon is desolations. “And he must keep [the] covenant in force for the many for one week; and at the half of the week he will cause sacrifice and gift offering to cease."

Do you need some explanation about what does mean "Messiah will be cut off"? And, how the Messiah would "cause sacrifice and gift offering to cease, after being "cutted off"?

    Good question anyway.

  9. The two immediate scriptures that come to mind are the 22nd Psalm and Isaiah 53..the Suffering Servant...and there are others.

  10. I think that the book of Daniel has some encoded language about the Messiah, but at any rate keep in mind that the Bible has contradictions that lends to the idea that men have been tampering with the Scripture.  Maybe that Scripture has been removed since the 2000 years that the New Testament has been here.

  11. Jesus confirmed the Old Testament. He is the Living Word, He knows personally what is the Word of God

  12. With regard to the Messiah suffering and dying:  there are many references, including (but not restricted to) Isaiah 53:3-5 & 7-11, Psalm 22, Psalm 16:10 and Daniel 9:26a; Midrash is found within the story of Joseph (which is the reason why some early Jewish scholars called Him "Messiah Son of Joseph," due to his rejection and suffering).

With regard to the third day:  Jesus weaves together many prophesies speaking of redemption on the third day, such as "the sign of Jonah," i.e. rising from a symbol of the grave on the third day.

  13. Isaiah 53 does not refer to Jesus.  Oh, the Christians believe it does because they have been taught so.  But ask any Jewish person and consult a Jewish Orthodox interpretation of the scripture and you will find that it does not.  The Hellenized first century writers were desperate to make their god fulfill prophecies.  And the fact that Jesus alluded to the story of Jonah does not imply that Jonah prophesied Jesus.
