  1. I always thought that it was George V that had that reputation. He was Edward VlII's father and Edward VII's son. Can't think of any examples apart from him being cold and distant and a bully to his children. His second son George VI who inherited the throne from his brother had a lifelong stutter as a result of this.

  2. They were, at times, both angry persons.

Edward VII, when Prince of Wales, once threw a jug of 'Old Peculier' strong beer over his wife Alexandra because he thought she had referred to him as a 'peculiar old mug'.

Edward VIII was angry more often than not. Annoyed with the royal household for retaining much of the furniture of his late father (George V) in the King's Personal Chambers, he made them perform their duties stark naked with their private parts painted green for one whole week.

  3. Yes, probably George V. He had served in the Royal Navy before he became heir to the throne, when his older brother died. He was noted for his hasty temper and salty language.

Having stayed at Bognor, a seaside resort, while he recuperated from an operation, the town mayor and council approached his secretary, to ask the King if their town could be granted the title of Bognor Regis to commemorate his stay. The secretary passed the request on to the King, who replied testily, "Bugger Bognor"! The secretary returned to the town officials and said 'His Majesty is graciously pleased to grant your request."
