Was life better back in the 50's or 60's? If so- why? (I grew up in the 90's)

  1. It was pretty happy because people were piecing their lives back together after two world wars - there were all these new inventions like the electric washing machine - fridges things everyone could have  after years of rationing and clothing coupons there was  the enormously full dior skirt . People seemed very innocent and bound by social rules of honour and integrity but it was very peaceful very little traffic - In suburban london we played in the streets with no fears of being run over - Cars were quite slow and careful in residential areas.

there was a camaraderie - having all pulled together and being in the same situation of fear adn losing loved ones there was an empathy.

There were real  communities. People who looked out for you - I think we all came a bit undone during the thatcherist years of individualism yuppies and big winners big losers.

  2. Well, I am Half Black and Half Asian mixed so I would HATE to live in 50's because there would be a lot of open racism.

Also, the only reason it was better IMO (I am only 17 saying this but here is what I think) is because people were not so obese, we did not have technology that made people lazy.

  3. You'd be surprised, but quality of life overall was about the same as now.    I'm 63 and thus lived through those earlier decades.  I think I can speak fairly accurately to your question.

  4. cuz there wasn't much to worry about..

  5. TODAY - No morals No manners, to much media.  The old days were simpler.
