Was likely to have a bright future in horseracing
The 2012 horseracing season has been full of excitement and a few talented runners have spiced things up this year. One of them is the A. P. O’Brien’s trainee, Was, who is known to give a tough time to her opponents. She has enjoyed a decent season and will
definitely have a very good future in the sport.
Looking at the overall record of Was, it is pretty much clear that she is capable of battling at the front with consistency. She is quite new to the sport and has participated in just five events until now. She has succeeded in a couple of them whereas finished
as third on the same number of times.
The young filly started her career in August 2011 and took part in just one race that year. She displayed very good skills back then and managed to take the top spot by a comfortable margin of 2½ lengths. The bookies did not have complete faith in her, thus
they had not given the best odds to her.
However, the three-year-old filly proved them wrong in the end and gained a lot of confidence. Although this victory was not a big one, yet it was quite important for her, as this was her first ever competitive run.
After securing an impressive victory, Was was rested for quite some time before reappearing in May 2012. She appeared to be quite fresh, but had to be at her absolute best in order to claim the Group-3 event, she was taking part in.
Despite doing a good job overall, Galileo’s daughter was unable to take the top spot and had to settle for third in the end. The result was not a bad one for her and she gained positive momentum into her next outing.
The Irish filly then appeared into a Group-1 event at Epsom, where she was given a starting price of 20 to 1. No one would have expected her to be battling for the top position, but she proved what she was capable of and outperformed her opponents in the
end. Although she took the top spot by just a neck distance, it was enough for her owner to win a cash prize of £207,842.
Was gave some reasonable performances after her first major win and she will definitely be competitive in the future as well.
