  1. From the period of 1986-1990, he was the best heavyweight in the world, and after he beat Michael Spinks in 1988, he was the undisputed heavyweight champion and he held that title until Buster Douglas knocked him out in 1990.  Before the "Bite Fight" he was not considered the best because he had gone to prison, came back to defeat Frank Bruno and Bruce Seldon, but then Holyfield stopped him in 11 rounds in their first fight.  Before their second fight, Evander Holyfield was considered the best heavyweight in the world, not Mike Tyson

  2. His reign was short so he was not the best. He was an exciting fighter because of his punching power like Sonny Liston but he was not the best.

  3. In my opinion he was he had amazing speed and power and accuracy that is rarely found in a heavyweight usually.Mike justhad a f----- up life and thats what brought him down i think if he never had that and all his problems he'd still be fighting today.Mike was always a trouble maker and i geuss thats what brought him down.

  4. For a short time yes I think he was the best for that time. Well until Holyfield whoooped that assssssssssss!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  5. NO , He isn't even among the BEST. What makes anyone to be considered as the best are the results that they have accumulated during their career and the integrity they have earned while doing so. Someone who tries to remain true to his purpose and consistently gives his all and the results manifest themselves.

  6. Everyone knows Muhammad Ali is "the Greatest".

  7. between 1986 and 1990 tyson was amazing.during those four years boxing was great. tyson was knocking everyone out.boxing was great.most people think he was only champ for a short time, but he defended his title 9 times.i don't think he was the best but he was definently in the top 5.when he got out of jail he wasn't the same fighter.he was to big and he stoped boxing and just became a slugger.

  8. No I don't think he was the best. Before biting Holyfield's ear, he had previously lost to Holyfield by knockout and Buster Douglas by knockout.  At one time Mike was a pretty awesome fighter or at least he was physically, but he just couldn't keep it together.

  9. He was amazing, I never seen anyone knock out people in the first round liek he did but best off all-time has to be for the people who did it their whole careers. He talied off badly and I even though ALi lost his last 2, my best boxer of all time is Sugar SHane RObinson.. 175-19...... ONE HUNDREN AND 75 WINS!!!!!! Only NINETEEN LOSSES!!! he fought whoever and whenever and will never see another one like em. Nowadays people wait like a full year between fights and it is annoying. Truly the best pound for pound fighter of all time.

  10. He was the 4th best of his era. Yes, I believe a focused Bowe would have beat him too.

  11. i mean iron mike wasnt the best fighter to ever live but u can make a argument he was atleast in top 50 maybe 25 ..personally i loved mike tyson this guy was a beast..he was the most exciting fighter  of the 1980 decade..but iron mike had alot other problems besides boxing that eventually caught up to him and ruined him...he was a trouble maker and a thug..mike was probably the most marketable boxer to ever fight..in his prime there was nobody that could stop..him..i mean nobody..his prime didnt last very long though..as great as he was its hard to give him credit because his down fall..was horrible..and well that has alot to do..with your career overall. he lost to buster douglas a guy who well to me should lost by ko in the rounds before the tyson knockout.to me they robbed him..but boxing is boxing u win sum u lose sum..he was the best for a while till his father mentor cus d'amato died and he fired roooney..his downfall was mainly because he got caught up with the good life...and quit training like he did when he had rooney and d'amato..he also had alot of probelms was gettin arrested accused of rape..

  12. Can you be the best and get knocked out in your prime by a mediocre fighter? Buster Douglas KO'd Mike when Mike was 24yrs old. That is when you are just coming into your prime. Tyson dominated until the competition got stronger. Than he lost his biggest fights....and by KO!

A lot of people like to speculate about what might have or could have been if Tyson handled himself, his management, and his personal life differently. Unfortunately you can't measure what might have been. His results weren't great when he faced top competition and thats all you can judge.

  13. As entertaining as Iron Mike was he was nowhere near the best boxer, let alone the best heavy weight.  He only remained dominate for a short time and his competition at that time wasn't exceptional--an aged Larry Holmes, etc.  and then lost by knock out in a tuneup fight against Buster Douglas.  I've read what some have said that Mike could have beat so in so if Mike was in his prime--unfortunatly Mikes prime only lasted 2 years, which should be enough to take him out of any consideration of the best.  Look at the records and longevity of greats like Ali and Louis or the sheer dominance of a Marciano (all who would be ranked well above Tyson).  As I stated right off, Tyson is one h**l of an entertainer but I doubt he should even be on the top 10 of the best fighters ever.
