Was my husband a bigamist?

Although my ex is living with the same woman he dated before we were married, he is still wearing his wedding ring from when we were married. He had the ring before we were married. I am now wondering if he was married to this other person at the time we got married. How would I find out if I married a married man?

  1. First off don't ask questions in like a tongue-twisting riddle. And second of, gawd get off your high horse he was married!

  2. Is he still living with the ex and with you?  Weird.  Check with your local Bureau of Vital Statistics, as marriage/divorce papers are public records.

  3. Marriages and divorces are public records. Or you could always ask the woman he is living with, if she is married to him and if so, when did they get married.

The fact that you are divorced, you can't charge him with bigamy, but his present wife, if she was married to him when he married you, she might want to know that about her husband.

Didn't it ever occur to you to ask your ex-husband before you married him, why he had a wedding ring and if he had ever been married before?

Men lie (so do women), but I can tell you from my own past mistakes that if I were ever to get married again, I would first do a background and criminal check on him, including if he has ever been married and if he is divorced, before I married him. You can't always believe what a man tells you and it's better to know the truth up front. It would be worth it to me to spend the money to do a background check on him.

  4. Marriage licenses are public records. go to the court house and look it up. Or you could check out past newspaper listing in your area and time frame online to see. Good Luck. I hope this is not the case because it is against the law everywhere I assume.

  5. check it out at the courhouse

  6. A Bigamist??I thought that was when it was foggy in Italy. BUT, go to the Courthouse in the County where your ex is/was living and check the marriage/divorce records. That would be a good start.

  7. He could be. Interesting one. I would check the records stuff like the other guys have suggested. Just for the peace of mind anyway.

  8. If you're not married to him any more why do you care?
