Question:

Was my landlady out of order?

Last night my landlady turned up unannounced to say that the people above us (who are trying to sell their house) had complained saying that our garden was like 'vietnam' and had asked her to investigate. it was messy but we had already tidied up so I accepted that, even though the people who were complaining about our garden had been even worse.

It s a really s****. area, and the landlady said that they had also complained about us leaving our curtains closed, saying it looked too 'studenty', which she agreed with. She then comlained about the mess of the flat, even though we had just returned from holiday, surely the tidiness of the flat is nothing to do with her? I was so angry and embarassed that i just let her out, but the more I think about it the angrier i get!

  1. Although she DOES have a right to make you keep your garden tidy, she has NO RIGHT telling you about the mess in your apartment or the curtains being closed.

I would ignore her.  If she complains again, I'd hire a lawyer and see about pressing charges on her for harrassment.

  2. Ok you went on vac, but surely you could have give it a quicky touch up,on your side though is not the landlord reponsible for outside chores like the grass, but thats the horror of renting,by the way she cannot enter you place unless you invite her in,

  3. You live with s****.... 'nuff said
