Question:

Was my osteopath right to discharged me from his treatment?

I have a slipped disc and a sciatica for 2 months now. NHS referred me to an osteopath but today he told me if I don't agree to have an operation he will discharge me, so he did so. I did not want to have an injection nor operation. He said if his treatments have not improve my condition by now I need an operation. But today I went privately to a physio and she said I don't need an operation just a good physio who can take care of me. Who should I trust more? To be honest I wasn't happy with the treatment I had from the osteopath as he never did any massage on me, I saw him once every 2 weeks (5 or 6 times altogether). Any advise? I will have a MRI scan next week by the way.

  1. hi i was under a chiropractic it cost me Nealy £4oo pounds  i had a mri scan and now have to see a surgeon   and it didn't show much improvement  either so he was right to discharge you it proved hes not just after your money..

  2. the NHS usually only offer a short course of treatment. if things don't get any better then the usually refer you. if you really don't want to have the operation then i would go with the physio, but i guess if after that it still isn't better then you would be back to needing the operation.....its up to you who you trust really.

    best of luck x

  3. If the osteopath didnt do massage on you the 5/6 times you went, what did he do?

I dont understand, he is a specialist in massage and manipulation, so why would he want you to have an op without an MRI scan.?

  4. wait  to see  what your mri scan shows 1st.

    they can  detect  anything.

    do  not  jump  to conclusions,

if  i were  you, the best  thing for  a slipped disc, sciatica, is  to

lie on a FLAT   board  under your  sheet,

    that  should  help you,

i have  got  osteoarthritus from head  -toe,

so, i know  how  you feel, very painful,

go  to dr's and get  some co-coamol eff,

dilute in water and    stir it in  and  swallow,

    will get to pain faster,

    no  side affects  with it,

      just codine, and paracetamol.

works wonders,   i can tell you.

       i take  it .

i  hope  you  get the problem sorted soon,

i  feel for you,   i really do.

        all the best  too you,
