  1. Queen Boudicca's of the Celts.

    Queen Maud, Anglo-Saxon

    Queen Jane Grey

    Queen Mary I

    Elizabeth I

    Queen Mary II

    Queen Anne I

    Then Queen Victoria

  2. No the first queen, that was actually a ruler was Mary I her rule was lousy and short (5 years). But she was the start

  3. Empress Matilda (February 1102 – September 10, 1167). Countess of Anjou or Matilda, Lady of the English, was the daughter and dispossessed heir of King Henry I of England. She was married to Henry V, Holy Roman Emperor, and then to Geoffrey V, Count of Anjou, by whom she became the mother of Henry II of England.

Matilda was the first female ruler of the Kingdom of England. Her failure to secure that rule meant that her undisputed period of reign in 1141 was extremely brief.

The first uncrown English Queen was Lady Jane Gray. Lady Jane Grey, formally Jane of England (1537 — 12 February 1554), a grand-niece of Henry VIII of England, reigned as uncrowned Queen regnant of the Kingdom of England for nine days in July 1553.

The first female ruler who was crowned "Queen" of England rather than "Empress of the Kingdom of England" was Mary (18 February 1516 – 17 November 1558), also known as Mary Tudor, was Queen of England and Queen of Ireland.

  4. If Queen Victoria was the first Queen of England, then our present monarch would not be called Queen Elizabeth II

  5. She was not the first Queen Regnant of England. The First true Queen regnant was Queen Mary I (discounting Lady Jane Grey - The Nine Days Queen), she was succeeded by her half-sister Elizabeth I. The next Queen Regant was Mary II who ruled jointly with her husband William III (William and Mary), when her husband died, he was succeeded by his sister-in-law (and Mary II's sister) Queen Anne.

  6. No she wasn't, far from it. Victoria ruled Great Britain from 1819-1901.

The first queen of England was Matilda who lived from 1101-1167, 700 years before Victoria. She was the daughter of King Henry 1st.

There were also Queen Mary Tudor, 1553-1558, or "Bloody Mary" as she was called, because she burned or beheaded so many protestants. She was the daughter of King Henry VIII, as was Queen Elizabeth I, "Good Queen Bess," who ruled from 1558-1603, probably the greatest of our English queens.

Finally there was Queen Anne who ruled from 1702-1714.

  7. no

  8. No. Mary Tudor was probably the first recognised Queen Regnant. Although Empress Matilda, daughter of Henry l was Lady of the English , essentially Queen for a while but never crowned. Her son became Henry ll however.

  9. NO she was not, the other good folk answering this question have given you plenty of names of queens of England.

  10. Of course not.  Before her there was Queen Anne, Queen Mary, Elizabeth the First, Mary (bloody Mary).  There were others who may or may not be recognized as "real queens" like Jane Grey.

  11. No. Go to http://www.royal.gov/uk and click on  History to research the monarchy. I believe Lady Jane Grey(r. 10-19 July 1553), Mary I (r. 1553-1558)

    and Elizabeth I(r. 1558-1603)

were are Queen Regents before Victoria.

  12. Oh, no!!!

The first Queen to rule in her own right was Mary I (aka "Bloody Mary") who ruled from 1553-58; followed by Elizabeth I, who ruled from 1558-1603.  Then there was Queen Anne, who ruled from 1702-14.
