I think you're referring to the Bibical book of Esther.  The book tells the story of Esther who married King Ahasuerus and interceded on behalf of the Jews.  It led to our holiday of Purim.  I've put a link below so you can read it for yourself.

It's a folk tale in a book of folk tales. The only connection with actual events was a Queen Esther of Salsa, who seduced the self proclaimed King of Brooklyn.
