  1. I think it was more to give us Hope for a life after death.

A lot of people are afraid that there is nothing after death, and the thought of just ceasing to exist is quite scary/sad when you think about it.

  2. It was created to control the gulable  and god fearing so the people in conrol and the church can gain power and control

  3. Religion comes from mythology, that was around with the first humans.

Somehow one has to explain the world around oneself. The gods of the Mediterranean were wine trinking party folks, further north more mysterious, fight loving and earthy.

  4. No: it was invented to try to keep people alive.  Back in the bad old days, when survival of the tribe depended on the success of the hunt or the coming of the rain, and there was no knowledge of the forces involved, it seemed reasonable to try to propitiate any gods that might be involved.  Which is why there is so much reference to sacrifice in the OT.

  5. No, the world is hardly civilized, even a civilized discussion is impossible online.

  6. Not civilized but oppressed.  Different animals all together

  7. If so, it didn't work, did it!?

  8. God set rules yes so people could benefit from obeying Him.  God is a very orderly God and He is not a God of confusion.  God says if you will do this then I will do this, but if you do this then I will do this.

God doesn't stutter and He means what He says.

  9. Yes first create Fear among the People and this will leed to Control

Have you heard of Canon Law this is the law made by the Pope's to control people and this law stretches through most religions

People think they have to obey Gods words right ?

And then we are all told we were giving Free Will LOL

I don't think Religious people really know if they are Arthur or Martha if they take on board such c**p !

I know here in Australia the Canon Law is used in the Spiritualist Churches when they Ordain their Ministers

    Love & Blessings

    Milly

  10. no, totalitarianism was.

so was feudalism, monarchies, fascism, communism etc.

civilized is just an applied moral code.

  11. I think it happened in certain cases, but I don't think it's the reason religion exists in the first place.

But Moses, Jesus, Paul and Muhammed, absolutely. They were obviously trying to lift society up to a higher moral plane the best they knew how. And it sort of worked.

  12. The Law of Love is the source of values that keeps people civilized.

  13. Religion evolved into a tool to control the masses.

    Heh, I said "evolved".

  14. no it was made to explain natural phenomenon sophmore world history didnt you take it
